  • DEEP SEA FISHING

boat1  I went deep sea fishing this last Sunday. It was one hell of a time and the first time I have ever done anything like it. I woke up at 3 15am to drive out to Wainaie and we set sail at 05:30am At first we set out 20 miles out to catch some big fish. We had 7 rods on the trolling boat, but it was a very unlucky time for us. After 3 hours we decided to go further out, about 40-50 miles even further to a point called the Pinacle point off the west side of Oahu. Apparently some fish were caught there the day before. So after another 4 hours of trolling, and no luck, we decided to call it quits and head back to shore. 11 hours was one hell of a boat ride and a tiring journey. I can only imagine what it was like in the ancient days of sailing (especially without a motor on your boat) how long it would take to get from one place to another.

This new camera is awesome. To capture a picture like this while speeding at 12 knots and on bumpy waves, this was a great shot of a bird right on the ocean.

Where the birds are, so are the fish

Looks like we had company, a formation of Chinook military helicopters, not sure where they came from but they were pretty close

Waianae boat club, what a relief to be back on land. I think I was sea sick by the end of 11 hours. We washed the boat and headed back home.
